world's endThe silent mouse stood at her bedroom window, waiting. Just waiting. It was all she, and thousands of others mice, could do.
Just watching and waiting for the world to end.
The stars winked out of existence with a flash of silent flames. An eerie silence fell over the city. The lights from hundreds of candles abruptly ceased to be, and a darkness that was almost tangible blanketed the city like a snow that they would never know, their stories never to be told.
Waiting. Just waiting.
The Shaman's apprentice stood, and watched, and waited. Bitter tears of unfairness coursed down his face, dampening his pale fur. The Shaman was gone. Dead.

Quick sketch turned into a full-scale picture.

I didn't do much shading on her fur because, to be honest, I was pretty sick of trying to shade again and again and failing miserably. w/e.

Anyway, this was originally meant as a companion to [link] (always darkest before dawn) but I sort of spun away from that, so here you go. Feel free to make up any sort of background you want for the mouse with tears in her eyes. (Actually, I can't decide if this would be my mouse or not, so w/e)
